Information on the 2015 – 2019 Youth and Recreation Millage
On August 5th the Youth and Recreation Millage vote takes place. This millage is a renewal of a 0.5% tax. During the past 4 years, this millage has provided about $1.8 million dollars to 49 different and diverse organizations. Money was and can be used for programs and capital improvements of either programs which focus on youth, such as, high school and college sports teams, recreational sports, or recreation such as, Besser Museum, Association of Lifelong Learners, Art in the Loft, county parks, city beach. For the full list of organizations which have received support so far, go to http://friendsofyouthandrecmillage.org, and use the links to the right under “Useful Links”.
We get all of this for the surprisingly small amount of about $25 per household, based on an average State Equalized Valuation of $50,000.
